Are Tapioca Flour and Buckwheat Flour FODMAP Friendly?

Posted on September 24, 2015

In keeping with our Dutch theme this week, we have recently tested both TAPIOCA FLOUR and BUCKWHEAT FLOUR, to confirm their FODMAP levels.

In The Netherlands, these starches are popular ingredients in many desserts. In particular, both are often used to make Dutch pancakes, also known as ‘poffertjes’.

Typically higher in carbohydrates, and lower in protein, both tapioca and buckwheat flours are often also used as thickeners or fillers in many dishes.

Independent, approved testing can confirm that tapioca flour and buckwheat flour are officially FODMAP Friendly, at serving sizes of 14g or 2 tbsp.

The full FODMAP data for these foods as well as many other new testing results will be available on the next update of the FODMAP Friendly App, which is coming very soon! To get the current version, click here!
