How did your company begin?

We are extremely passionate about cooking and enjoy creating recipes, trying new foods and making simple, healthy and nutritious meals for our family.

We starting making our own vegetable stock using certified organic vegetables, herbs and spices without msg, maltodextrin, palm oil, artificial colours or preservatives. We worked hard to perfect our recipe to provide a stock with a smooth, natural and delicious flavour when added to meals.

We wanted to share our passion for cooking and love of food with everyone and in 2017 launched the San Elk brand.

What is the inspiration behind your range?

To create a natural, organic and environmentally sustainable brand specialling in high quality food products that cater to various dietary requirements.

Why did you create your particular certified products?

When we launched our first vegetable stock we received enquiries from customers asking if we could make a certified organic LowFodmap vegetable stock. We didn’t want consumers with food intolerances or IBS to miss out so we carefully selected ingredients that comply with the LowFod map diet and are gentle on the stomach.

What are your own personal experiences with digestive health?

Most of my life I battled with allergies and an auto immune condition, every time my symptoms got worse I had to go on a strict diet to try and identify foods that would trigger my symptoms. I gradually re introduced foods and follow a suitable diet to reduce symptoms from occurring.
My youngest son was born with severe eczema and when he started on solid foods we noticed that he had constant lose stools, diarrhoea and wasn’t putting on much weight. Having suffered from allergies I knew something wasn’t quite right. We went to see a paediatric dietician and she diagnosed my son with IBS. We had to follow a Low Fodmap diet to see what foods would trigger issues with his stomach. We re-introduced foods slowly and have to limit the in take of diary and onion.

Why did you want to certify your product?

It was important for us to create a brand that consumers can trust. Our Low Fodmap vegetable stock has been tested and certified by the FodMap Friendly program so customers know that it’s safe to consume.

What separates your product from others available on the market?

Our products are certified by the Australian Certified Organic (ACO) body and guarantee that no toxic synthetic pesticides, herbicides or chemicals are used in production of ingredients or manufacturing of our products.
There are no hidden ingredients in our products. Our vegetable stock contains no maltodextrin, msg, palm products, GMO, preservatives, additives or artificial colours and is free from gluten, lactose, yeast and suitable for vegans. Our packaging is also environmentally friendly, recyclable and reusable.

Quality is something that is also very important to us, we make our products in small batches to preserve the integrity and fresh flavours of our natural ingredients.

Are there more products to be added to your range in future?

We are working extremely hard to expand our product range and hope to add more Low FodMap products in the future.
