To welcome the Genius Australia team, we conducted a Q&A so you can get to know all about this awesome team’s brand inspiration and commitment to a gluten free & low FODMAP diet!

How did your company begin?

Genius Gluten Free began in the UK in 2009 out of one parents desire to provide tasty gluten-free bread for their child.  The name behind the brand was Lucinda Bruce-Gardyne.

Lucinda’s son had been diagnosed as gluten intolerant and after failing to find an alternative to the brick like, vacuum packed offerings on supermarket shelves, Lucinda realised that she had to create something herself. Necessity really was the mother of creation.

Lucinda’s children would often come home from school to find 14 different loaves of bread waiting for them to try. She even broke her oven, but in 2009 Genius bread hit the shelves.

Genius Australia began selling products to Coles stores in 2015 and has rapidly grown to become a wide spread gluten-free business.  You can find Genius Gluten free products in supermarkets across Australia.


What is the inspiration behind your range?

As more and more people seek out great tasting gluten-free products we plan to offer them the best they’ll find, a growing range of mealtime choices that are lovingly created with both their lifestyles and their appetites in mind.

Our motivation was quite simple: we felt everybody deserved to enjoy the pleasure of a delicious bacon sarnie or a hot buttery piece of toast. We all need to feel excited by what’s on our plate – after all, isn’t that what great food is all about?

There are just three simple rules to make it into our ever-growing range: it has to taste great, it has to be the best quality and of course, it has to be gluten-free…


Why did you create your particular certified products?

To provide more options to more people who are gluten free and FODMAP free.  It’s a growing market.


What are your own personal experiences with digestive health?

We are personally on the low FODMAP diet and have been for a number of years.  We recognise the value and importance of the FODMAP Friendly logo.

 
Why did you want to certify your products?

The FODMAP certification is a sign of trust.  It is a tick of trust for the consumer and an important selling feature of our products.

What separates your products from others available on the market?

Our products cannot be beaten on taste and quality.  Our bread size and texture is large, soft and extremely palatable.

Our new recipe is low in saturated fat, a very high source of fibre and free from artificial preservatives. This nutritious loaf is also packed with vitamins and minerals, and is a good source of Omega 3.
Are there more products to be added to your range in future?

Yes there certainly will be.
