Working as infant nutrition executives at large blue chip infant nutrition companies, Else Nutrition saw firsthand the countless struggles and challenges parents were facing regarding their babies’ nutrition and health (i.e. sensitivities, allergies etc.) and parents not finding satisfactory solutions for their little ones.
What triggered Else Nutrition to take action was a personal pain, a pain shared with millions of families around the world. Ronnie (one of the cofounders’ grandchildren) a 10 month old baby at the time, became ill and lost the ability to consume the milk formula she used to. She went through a route every Paediatrician typically recommends. She rejected all solutions the current industry has to offer (soy based formula, hydrolyzed (broken down) cow’s milk protein formula and even an elemental formula) resulting in severe weight loss and failure to thrive. Against all odds her grandfather Uriel recalled grandma’s old remedy, and literally saved her life. It consisted of almond butter which in the Ultra-orthodox communities is used to strengthen breastfeeding and pregnant moms. Having seen the positive results and biological acceptance by Ronnie, Else Nutrition started to research and found similarities in composition values to human breast milk. This was the springboard for development of the Else formulation, a process that took 7 years of research and development.
