What is Konjac? And Is Konjac Low FODMAP?
Jonathan Carp MD, the founder of Miracle Noodle, was inspired by the Konnyaku he tried in a Buddhist-run vegetarian restaurant on the outskirts of the beautiful city of Kyoto. Konnyaku is a food made of the Konjac plant and has been enjoyed in Japan for over 1,400 years. It can be made into different shapes like noodles, rice and balls. Made from only water and Konjac fibre, Konnyaku has almost zero calorie food with no sugar and no fat.
After discovering this amazing plant-based food and the possible health benefits for his patients, Jonathan started Miracle Noodle with his family.
For those with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), eating food high in FODMAPs may exasperate gastro-intestinal symptoms. Noodles and pasta are often made of wheat flour which is considered as a high FODMAP ingredient. Miracle noodles are a great low FODMAP alternatives for people who are after a gut friendly option of grain.
