Tim Mottin

Co-founder & Director

Creating clarity in a space full of confusion is what led to the founding of FODMAP Friendly, the world’s first Low FODMAP food certification program.

Behind it is Tim Mottin, who began his work in digestive health with the ownership of Stream Diagnostics, a specialist clinic offering Hydrogen Methane Breath Testing (HMBT) for sugar malabsorption. The HMBT work was initially closely connected to research with Monash University, where HMBT became central to early FODMAP research and clinical practice.

During this time, Tim worked closely with Dr. Sue Shepherd from the Monash team who developed the Low FODMAP Diet. Seeing how overwhelmed patients were when trying to identify suitable foods, he envisioned a certification that could simplify the process. In 2012, the FODMAP Friendly certification mark was launched.

Today, it’s recognised globally, helping people with IBS navigate food choices with greater confidence and ease.
