Meet Casa De Sante!
How did the company begin?
I am Onikepe (Onyx) Adegbola MD PhD, a former pharmaceutical executive. I was inspired to start a company dedicated to healthy nutrition, because as a physician scientist with experience in the healthcare industry, I understand importance of taking care of our bodies with good nutrition. As a mother of rambunctious triplet toddlers, I recognize the importance of wellness and healthy living. You can never take a day off!
Tell us about the inspiration behind the range?
Casa de santé is inspired by the holistic teachings of Ayurveda, traditional Chinese medicine and other herbal traditions. Our mission is to make delicious, functional foods and beverages that are full of both flavor and function to enable you to live your very best life.
Why did you choose to create your particular products?
We created LemonAID Ayurvedic Digestive Drink as a delicious nonalcoholic digestif or aperitif which tastes great any time of the day. The inspiration for LemonAID, a fruit, herb and spice infusion, is jaljeera, a deliciously citrusy Indian beverage. Our LemonAID physician formulated jal jeera uses traditional Indian fruits, herbs and spices which have been used for thousands of years to promote digestive health and wellness. For digestive sensitivities, LemonAID is the perfect end to every meal.
We created our onion garlic substitute spice mixes to give customers on the low FODMAP diet an easy way to make delicious meals, so as to make it easier to follow the diet. Accompanying the spice mixes we have a number of cookbooks with easy, delicious recipes, all to make the low FODMAP diet less challenging to follow.
Can you tell us about own personal experiences with digestive health?
I have seen many patients with digestive issues who suffered terribly with little relief. In my own family, one of my siblings, a physician, got significant relief from digestive sensitivities on the low FODMAP diet. He has stopped taking charcoal pills and other medications, and his symptoms of bloating, etc are completely relieved by the FODMAP diet.
Why did you want to certify your products?
We wanted to certify our products so as to give customers with digestive sensitivities confidence when shopping. We want customers to be able to find low FODMAP products quickly and confidently in the supermarket.

In addition to giving an onion and garlic flavor, studies have shown that hing may be beneficial in relieving the symptoms of IBS.
