Golden Syrup Is Low FODMAP At 7g Per Serve!

Golden syrup is low FODMAP at 1 teaspoon!

For all you FODMAPpers with sweet teeth, you can now enjoy golden syrup at a modest serving size of 7g (1 teaspoon), on top of low FODMAP pancakes, cupcakes, or ice cream!

Some interesting facts about the good ol’ GS!

Golden syrup is a form of invert sugar syrup, produced in the process of refining sugar beet juice into sugar, from acid treatment of a sugar solution, or it is produced from sugar cane.

It is used in a variety of dessert and baking recipes. It’s attractive appearance makes it a desirable substitute for honey, and since all types of honey (including the recently tested clover honey) must be avoided on a low FODMAP diet, enjoying golden syrup in small amounts if honey is a no-go, is a good move!

What if I’m vegan?

The perceived exploitation of bees for mass production of honey for human consumption makes golden syrup the perfect substitute for honey for our FODMAP friendly vegans. Enjoy in small amounts for brekky on top of low FODMAP cereal with nut and grain-based milks (almond or rice milk, for example), or add on top of delicious and healthy buckwheat dessert crepes like the amazing Kate!

Enjoy golden syrup…

With confidence!
