It’s a PASS for Hazelnut Spread!

What is hazelnut spread?

Hazelnut spread is product derived from ground down hazelnuts into a spreadable paste, usually with the addition of cocoa, oil, milk and sugar. The spread can contribute a source of iron as well as certain other vitamin and minerals that are sometimes add to commercial spreads in order to fortify them. Hazelnut spread can be enjoyed on low FODMAP toast or bread? Might we suggest it is spread on top of Alpine Breads delicious FODMAP Friendly certified breads? Or even as a great addition to a smoothie or drink, eaten as a dip, warmed up to use in an delicious fondue, or just eaten straight from the jar!?

Is hazelnut spread low FODMAP?

At a tested serving size of 20g, we can confirm that hazelnut spread is low FODMAP. One of the main ingredients added to commercially available hazelnut spreads includes skim milk powder; a high FODMAP ingredient for lactose. However, at the serving size of 20g specified, this ingredient is low FODMAP.
